Review: The Sweetest Burn

The breathtaking second novel in New York Times bestselling author Jeaniene Frost’s Broken Destiny series finds Ivy and Adrian rekindling their alliance—and passion—as the struggle for the fate of the world begins…

Conquering a supernatural realm turned out to be easier than getting over a broken heart. But her initial victory has made Ivy a target for revenge, forcing her to reunite with the dangerous—and dangerously sexy—Adrian. Ivy isn’t sure which will be harder: finding the hallowed weapon that will repair the crumbling walls between the demon and human realms, or resisting Adrian, who’s decided that come hell or high water, he will make Ivy his.

At first, Adrian tried to resist his feelings for Ivy. Now, determined to break the curse that dooms their love, he’s vowed to save her and to have her. If only he can persuade her to forgive his past sins. But defying destiny—and surrendering to the smoldering desire between them—will bring consequences and sacrifices they never imagined…

Warning! Mild spoilers below.

Three years.

Its been three years since The Beautiful Ashes was released and since then we have been waiting for The Sweetest Burn.

I’m pleased to tell fans that The Sweetest Burn was definitely worth the wait.

The Sweetest Burn picks up weeks after the ending of The Beautiful Ashes. Ivy is reunited with Adrian who she hasn’t seen since the ending of The Beautiful Ashes. Zach who gives Ivy and Adrian their next mission. To locate the second artifact of power before the demons can find it. As the last descendant of David, Ivy is the only one who can wield all three artifacts which can bring about the destruction of Demons. Just one problem, Ivy has doubts about Adrian especially after betraying her in The Beautiful Ashes. Adrian however is determined to win back Ivy’s trust and be given a second chance to be with her despite their tragic destiny.

Overall, like I said before, The Sweetest Burn was worth the  three year wait. Jeaniene Frost did a magnificent job in creating a story line with many hardships that Ivy and Adrian had to face and yet were important for their character development. The epilogue was something we should have all seen coming yet its still a shocking and painful cliffhanger. Now its time to wait for The Brightest Embers, book 3 of the Broken Destiny series, which was sadly pushed back to another release date. Yes, it will be released November 28, 2017. Hey, at least its this year and the next year.
