The legions are about to be unleashed, and no human, rogue dragon or former dragon slayer can stand against the coming horde. Book 4 of 5 in The Talon Saga from New York Times bestselling author Julie Kagawa.
Dragon hatchling Ember Hill was never prepared to find love at all–dragons do not suffer human emotions–let alone the love of a human and a former dragonslayer, at that. With ex-soldier Garret dying at her feet after sacrificing his freedom and his life to expose the deepest of betrayals, Ember knows only that nothing she was taught by dragon organization Talon is true. About humans, about rogue dragons, about herself and what she’s capable of doing and feeling.
In the face of great loss, Ember vows to stand with rogue dragon Riley against the dragon-slaying Order of St. George and her own twin brother Dante–the heir apparent to all of Talon, and the boy who will soon unleash the greatest threat and terror dragonkind has ever known.
Talon is poised to take over the world, and the abominations they have created will soon take to the skies, darkening the world with the promise of blood and death to those who refuse to yield.
Warning! Mild spoilers below.
Legion picks right up after the cliffhanger ending of Soldier which I’m sure you all remember was painful to read. Doubly painful if you were on board the Ember and Garret shipping team. Due to these events, Ember is determined to take down Talon but her biggest obstacle is Dante, her twin brother who is next in line to lead Talon. Ember believes Dante is unaware of Talon’s dark secrets and wants to see him again in order to change his mind of staying with Talon. Sadly, Talon prepares a trap for Ember and her group. Now Ember and the others have to escape from their captivity, stop Talon’s next plan of attack, and reveal its true colors to the other dragon shifters who still believe in the organization.
Overall, Legion was worth the agonizing wait especially after the heartache ending that Julie Kagawa gave us in Soldier. At least the love triangle between Ember, Garret, and Riley seems to be finally over. It was interesting to learn more about and understand the type of person Dante is. Bit surprised about Talon’s true motives and what Ember’s role in their plan is. Julie Kagawa really did go out with shocking twists in this installments. I don’t know about you guts but the wait for book 5 is definitely going to be painful not because its a year away but because its the final installment. Let’s hope our favorite characters make it to the end of the Talon series. At least we have a year to prepare ourselves.
