Bad Things Always Come In Threes…
As a thief, I’m good at three things: hiding in the shadows, getting in and out unseen, and uncovering secrets. I put these skills to work for the Sinclair Family, one of the magical mobs that run the tourist town of Cloudburst Falls.
Everyone knows Victor Draconi wants to take over all the other Families–and kill every last Sinclair. What they don’t know is that I’m on to him, and no way will I let the man who murdered my mom get away with hurting all the other people I care about. Especially when I’ve got places to break into, stuff to steal, and Devon Sinclair fighting right by my side…
Warning! Mild spoilers below.
It feels like yesterday that Jennifer Estep announced her Black Blade series.
Now we’re a couple of days away from the release of Bright Blaze of Magic, the final novel of the Black Blade series.
Bright Blaze of Magic picks up two weeks after the end of Dark Heart of Magic with Lila, Devon, Felix sneaking in the Draconi house in order to finish their plan of stealing, switching, and stashing Victor Draconi ‘s hidden stock of black blades with the help of Claudia. All of this is being done because the group are trying to prevent Victor’s plan of staging a coup in order to rule over all the other families. After a narrow scare, the group are able to finish the job with no problems. However, Lila can’t hep and worry something can still go wrong.
Lila’s fears come into fruition during the dinner with all of the families. Despite the loss of his stock of black blades, Victor still makes his move against every magic family. The battle leads to not only deaths but the Draconi’s take hostage a number of people. Now its up to Lila to come up with a plan to save the hostages. Not mention its up to her to defeat Victor once and for all.
Overall, Bright Blaze of Magic was a wonderful installment to read but I’m a bit sad that we’re at the end of the Black Blade series. Yes, the series ended beautifully and I’m happy about that. However, I feel like this series has a lot of great potential in producing future books. Largely because Jennifer Estep ended the series with a door open for many possible story lines. Nonetheless, if she never comes back to the Black Blade series I’ll understand but I’ll never stop hoping that we’ll one day return to Lila’s world.
